ON THE TRAIL
week zero

25 characters remaining.

One minute, you're at home, then the next, you're waking up in a rather rickety looking jail cell, and one that seems a bit... crowded. In fact, you're in a jail cell with a bunch of other people that are just as confused as you are. You can see into the one room jailhouse, but no one else is there, and if you look out the single cell's barred window, the sight is a bit odd. You'll see people dressed in the fashions of the 1840s wander by, and there isn't much to see anyways. It looks like you're in a small town, and if normally breaking out of this cell would be easy? Well, tough luck. It seems like any extra abilities are completely gone.

You have some time before the Sheriff comes in and looks around at those of you gathered, though he looks a little afraid. There's someone standing outside the door that he starts to talk to, but you can't see who it is.
"Yessir, this is the vagrants. I don't know why there are so many, but... They can't stay here. What you said, it ain't a bad idea, but..."
But the Sheriff leaves, closing the door behind him after peering in. It's a strange situation, and for now, there aren't any more answers to come. A few hours later, the door opens again, and a man in a fine suit steps in, dabbing at his brow with a handkerchief as he looks at all of you worriedly. It seems like these people are a little afraid of you, actually!
"Goodness, there are a lot of you... Well, I'm sorry folks, but you can't stay here. You—"
The man points to certain members among you, explaining that these people are the ones that will lead the five wagons the town is providing. He also decides on the wagons before he hands the leaders $800 to prepare for the journey ahead. He explains that you're in Independence, Missouri, USA, and it's May of the year 1842. They have no idea why you're here either, but they want you gone. You have a week to prepare a wagon, then it's time to head West towards Sacramento, California, where someone can help you get back home.

So... How will you spend the week? You might as well meet your wagon members and decide how to approach the idea of such a long journey. It sounds like it takes months, after all, and it's a difficult journey. Hopefully the person that the mayor picked to be in charge of your wagon is wise enough to lead you all, right...?
